Hi! I’m Julie, a Certified Holistic Nutrition Coach with a Holistic Culinary Certificate.
I went to college in upstate New York where I received my BS in Marketing and since I wasn’t yet ready for the business world, I set out West for the mountains. After a lot of travel and seasonal work, my heart brought me to Vancouver, where I enrolled in the Canadian School for Natural Nutrition. I graduated in 2018 as a Registered Holistic Nutrition Coach.
I have been an athlete my whole life, and in the last decade I have fallen in love with trail running and hiking. A long day on the trail is my favorite way to spend time. I work with a lot of endurance athletes, but love working with clients in all stages of life and who have different goals.
I grew up eating a lot of refined carbohydrates and followed every health trend up until a few years ago. Low fat, low cal, low sugar, keto, IF, paleo, vegetarian, vegan etc. It wasn’t until I got rid of all the rules and diets that I started to feel and perform better. I’m extremely passionate about helping clients discover what foods work best for them. Essentially, my job is to get you from where you are now — to where you want to be — through empowered choices and habit forming techniques. My approach is personalized, doable, and, most importantly, lasting. Health for the long-term. No fad diets.
Everyone is different, and I’m excited to help you find the nutritional foundation for not only your sport, but for life’s biggest and smallest events.
Whether you are suffering from a specific set of symptoms or are feeling good but looking to level up your health, I’ll meet you where you’re at and help uncover any blockages. Let’s team up and get you feeling better!
My Practice:
I am not the Food Police. I will not judge you, EVER. My motto is that if it looks good and I’m hungry, I’ll eat it. No food rules, no restrictions, just a healthy amount of awareness.
I believe in changing one habit at a time. I will not give you more than you are ready for. I find it is the small things that add up to make the biggest impact.
While working together we will determine:
- Why your symptoms are surfacing and what action steps to take
- What foods help you feel your best and when to eat them
- What type(s) of exercise is/are most helpful to you right now
- What you can do for better sleep and lower stress
- How much to eat for fat loss and body recomposition goals
- Women over 40 I’m here to help answer this question for you — “what the F is going on?”
Weight Loss Clients:
In my 3 Month Coaching Program the first month is about improving your diet and setting a solid foundation of healthy habits. The second month we begin to track food (not mandatory!) to gather objective data. The third month is about bringing it all together and making sure you’re on the path to fat loss while your diet and lifestyle is sustainable. For all clients with fat loss goals, my intention is to help you eat and move in a way that maintains/improves muscle mass, while slowly losing fat. From my perspective, HEALTH is way more important than the number on the scale, so I’ll always be guiding you towards health first and foremost
Perimenopause Clients:
In my 3 Month Coaching Program the first month is about addressing all the pillars of health: diet, exercise, sleep, stress, AND answering all your questions within the realm of “What the heck is going on? What the heck do I eat? What exercise is best? Because what I’ve BEEN doing isn’t working anymore!” In the second month, we get more specific towards what your goals are — usually fat loss, symptom management and/or muscle gain. In the third month we tie it all together and shine the light on what area needs the most focus. And we end with the reminder that your hormones aren’t out to get you! There ARE things you can do, this is a time to adapt WITH your hormones, not argue with them.
Running and Strength Nutrition:
In my 3 Month Coaching Program the first month is getting dialed on what your exercise routine is, addressing the 4 pillars of health (diet, sleep, exercise, stress), and making modifications to the area that needs the most focus. The second month we begin to work on the timing of food, long-run/ride fueling, and getting specific with what to eat before and after your hard efforts. In the third month we take all that you learned and apply it week after week and change things up as necessary.
For All Clients:
Our sessions focus a lot on taking the time to listen to your body and understand what it is trying to tell you. Symptoms are a good thing! It means our body is functioning well enough to let us know something is wrong. Catching health problems early and taking the steps to reverse them naturally is how we are meant to heal and how we can perform better.
Along with diet modifications I am an advocate for time spent in nature, proper sleep hygiene, breath work, short but effective exercises throughout the day, and supplementing when necessary. Getting back to the basics by removing clutter and simplifying our lives can have a significant physiological effect on our hormonal imbalances and overall health.
Education is powerful, but in the end the choice to take action is entirely yours to make. Health is the greatest investment you can make and I would love to join you on your journey to wherever you want to take your health!
