Who Am I?
Hi! I’m Julie, or Jules, either one. I thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in 2016 and everyone called me Toe Touch, so there’s another option. I am a Certified Holistic Nutrition Coach with a Holistic Culinary Certificate.
I went to college in upstate New York where I received my BS in Marketing and played varsity soccer and track. I wasn’t ready for the business world, so I set out West for the mountains. After a lot of travel and seasonal work, my heart brought me to Vancouver, where I enrolled in the Canadian School for Natural Nutrition. I graduated in 2018 as an RHN.
I have been an athlete my whole life, and in the last few years I have fallen in love with trail running and hiking. I also have a strong interest in triathlons.
I constantly experiment different diets and foods on myself, and seem to do my best endurance work mostly fat-adapted with a hit of carbs for a rocket-fuel effect.
I grew up eating a lot of refined carbohydrates and followed every health trend up until a few years ago. Low fat, low cal, low sugar etc. It wasn’t until I started focusing on food without labels that I started to feel and perform better. I’m extremely passionate about helping people find what foods work best for them, and watching them regain energy and clarity.
Everyone is different, and I’m excited to help you find the nutritional foundation for not only your sport, but for life’s biggest events as well.
Whether you are suffering from gut issues, adrenal imbalance, burn-out, or are feeling good but looking to step up your game, I’ll meet you where you’re at and help uncover any blockages. Let’s team up and get you feeling better!
I am not the Food Police. My motto is that if it looks good, and I’m hungry, I’ll eat it. No food rules, no restrictions, just a healthy amount of awareness.
I believe in changing one habit at a time. I will not give you more than you are ready for. I find it is the small things that add up to make the biggest impact.
While working together we will determine:
- Why these symptoms are surfacing
- Why you should/should not eat certain foods
- Why you should engage/disengage in certain exercises
- What exactly is going on in your body
My education stems from the power of REAL FOOD:
- As local and organic as possible
- Lots of variety
- Gently prepared at home
- QUALITY over QUANTITY
Our sessions focus a lot on taking the time to listen to your body and understand what it is trying to tell you. Symptoms are a good thing! It means our body is functioning well enough to let us know something is wrong. Catching health problems early and taking the steps to reverse them naturally is how we are meant to heal.
Along with diet modifications I am an advocate for time spent in nature, proper sleep hygiene, breath work, short but effective exercises throughout the day, and supplementing when necessary. Getting back to the basics by removing clutter and simplifying our lives can have a significant physiological effect on our hormonal imbalances and overall health.
Education is powerful, but in the end the choice to take action is entirely yours to make. Your health is the greatest investment you can make and I would love to join you on your journey to a fuller life!
